Adventure, Mentoring & Real Change for Young People

Finding the right support can be hard when you feel like no one gets what you’re going through. 

At Harbour & Anchor, we know that some young people are doing it tough — disconnected from school, services, or family, and sometimes getting caught up in risky choices or the wrong crowd. That’s why we created Street Wise — a weekend mentoring program for young people aged 10–18 who need support to make positive changes, rebuild trust, and find a better path forward.

Each Saturday, Street Wise gives young people the chance to get involved in adventure-based activities, creative projects, and real conversations with mentors who understand what they’re going through. The program runs in a small group setting with other young people, supported and supervised by experienced youth workers and mentors who ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for everyone.

It’s not about lectures — it’s about doing, learning, and connecting in a way that makes sense. Through teamwork, positive role modelling, and consistency, Street Wise helps break cycles of disconnection and gives young people the tools, confidence, and community they need to make stronger, safer choices for their future.

Each Saturday, Street Wise brings together adventure, creativity, and mentoring to help young people reconnect, build confidence, and make positive choices.

• 🏄‍♂️ Adventure & Outdoors: Kayaking, Fishing, Electric surfboards, Swimming, and Team challenges.
   
• 🎨 Creative Expression: Graffiti-style art and hands-on projects.
   
• 💬 Mentoring Circles: Space to talk, set goals, and get real support.

•  🪶 Cultural Connection Workshops: guided by community mentors who share stories, traditions, and practices that strengthen identity, respect, and belonging.
   
• ⚽ Life Skills & Leadership: teamwork, communication, and decision-making.

At Harbour & Anchor, we understand that getting to and from programs can be a challenge for some young people.
To make things easier, Street Wise provides safe, reliable transport to and from the program each Saturday — no matter where you’re coming from.
We want every young person to have the opportunity to join in, connect, and be part of something positive, without transport being a barrier.

At Street Wise, we make sure no one goes hungry while they’re with us.
At the Program, lunch, drinks, and snacks are provided so young people can relax, refuel, and enjoy the day without worrying about food.
Sharing meals is also an important part of building connection — it’s where conversations happen, friendships form, and everyone feels included.

At Harbour & Anchor, support doesn’t stop when the session ends.
If a young person needs continued mentoring or extra one-on-one support, our team can provide follow-up sessions to help keep them on track.
We focus on building lasting relationships that encourage growth, accountability, and connection — giving young people the chance to continue their journey with familiar, trusted mentors.
